Swap Received

In my mailbox, waiting for me was this cute little pincushion and a baby one too! This was what I received in the swap I mentioned several posts back in which I had made a cupcake pincuhion for. It's it cute? I immediately poked a bunch of pins in it and gave it it's new home on my sewing table.

You don't have to be crafty to participate either, not all of the swaps are craft ones. Even the pincushion swap was make or buy. I'm completely hooked by the swap bug!

After getting over the giddiness of receiving my new pincushion, I worked on the dolls for awhile. I cut out all of the pieces for their clothing and gave hair to the little one. Still working on those. I hope to finish them today.

Cloth Doll Madness

I started 3 dolls today that are for my mom and my aunt. Two of them go together as a set. Those are for my mom the other one is for my aunt. They still need their hair and their clothing but I tuckered out and couldn't finish them tonight. I'll finish them tomorrow.

You Better Watch Out...You Better Not Pout....

You better not pout, you better not cry I'm tellin' you why.....SANTA CLAUS is coming to town....

Today while waiting for my mother's gifts to dry in the oven, I sat down and made some paper snowflakes that I had a tutorial for from How About Orange's Blog. They were easy, fun and I can't tell you how much joy they are bringing me! I hung 3 of them in the doorway of my studio and the LR and they just make me incredibly happy.

Try one but be careful! You can't make just one!

Pincushion Gift Sets are now complete!

I have finished the pincushion gift sets... I just adore them! The pins are in the oven now and when they're finished I'll gloss varnish them. Then the fun part... wrapping and putting under the tree..

Handmade Ornaments... A Family Day

Sorry I have been neglecting the blog, it will probably be this way until after Christmas. I have been busy helping my kids make Christmas ornaments and making gifts. My hubby even joined in the fun yesterday and made a few ornaments of his own! I think they are just lovely! I think the fact that he so very rarely gets into the crafty side of things makes them all the more special to me.. Here's some of his works..

Isn't this little pink, glittery crane just the cutest? I think it's my favorite! Hubby made several cranes in various colors and glittered each of them.. LOVE THEM!



This started as a humble little styrafoam ball. Hubby took my Dremel to it and hallowed out the inside. Then he painted and glittered it and stuck it on one of the tree lights. I think it's wonderful! It looks so pretty with the light shining from within!
Captain Hormones spent hours and hours working on his project and I have to say I was so proud to see him really try to do a good job instead of just slapping something together. He worked hard on this and it shows. I am very proud of his little project and so is he...




Little Miss Artsy made two ornaments but I couldn't find her gingerbread man to take a picture of.. :( I'll have to ask her about it when she gets home from school tomorrow and add it later. She also made a sled ornament and decorated with the crane that her dad showed her how to make.. So cute!
Frilly Girl made a sled ornament as well and started to make a snowcone ornie but she's still working on it.. here's her sled and then a WIP pic of the snowball...


She did a great job!








I would show you the ornaments I made except I didn't make any! I was too busy helping the kids with theirs. I did however spend a few hours today working on the pincushion gifts that I'm making for my aunt and a friend of mine and hubby's. The pincushions themselves are done, now I'm working on the needlecases and custom pins that will match.... here's what I have finished so far..

Cupcake Pincushion Swap

Okay, so I just couldn't leave well enough alone. The swap is for a pin cushion.. that's it. But I wanted to do something extra so I made the coordinating pins. That would have been wonderful enough but noooooooo, I had to one up myself again! So, my lucky swap partner will receive the cupcake pincushion, the handmade cupcake pins AND a coordinating cupcake needle case!!! Yep! I must be in the Christmas spirit! I think I made the needle case a bit too big so when I make the ones for gifts, I'm going to reduce the size. Whatcha think??

UPDATE: Here is the response I received from my swap partner after she received her pincushion set......

MMmmmm Cupcake............. Pin Cushion!

Oh my gosh! I absolutely love this pincushion!! I made the pattern myself, yep, sure did! It took a few tries before I got it how I wanted it but it turned out even better than I expected! I made this for a swap but I'm also making one for my aunt and a friend of mine for Christmas. Did you notice the pins that are sticking in the pin cushion?? I made those too! I made teeny tiny little cupcakes out of polymer clay and baked them onto straight pins! Matching pins to go with the pin cushion! How cute is that?? I know, I'm way too excited.. okay okay.. calming down... Have a peek at the pics while I do..







I had so much fun making this today! It took about 4 hours from start to finish. It would have been slightly quicker if I had machine sewn it but I hand sewed it instead. The next ones should go much faster now that I have the pattern correct and have already made this one.. I may even make these to sell in my Etsy shop after the first of the year... maybe...

More Felt Gnome Homes

These are the gnome homes I was able to finish sewing today. They still need to be stuffed and their dots put on. I think I will call it a night early tonight, feeling slightly under the weather. More later...

Felt Gnome Homes

I am knee deep in all sorts of wonderful gnome homes! I have been making these since last night ( I did take about 5 hours to sleep) but now I'm back at it. I made 2 last night and then spent the rest of the time cutting out all of the pieces to make a total of 18 little gnome homes! This morning I got busy stitching and am now sewing number 5. I will be making the teeny tiny gnomes for them later tonight or tomorrow.. Stay tuned...

A Gold Gnome Home

I think I'm hooked.. who knew when I sat down to draw up a pattern for these little houses that I'd have so much fun making them! I truely thought I would make on and that was it because I hate sewing tiny things. Much to my surprise, They aren't a pain to sew and are just adorable when finished... I've also decided to make some coordinating gnomes to go with them but haven't started those yet.. I have a whole rainbow of felt laid out on my table so I can make a lot of these houses is various colors. Hee Hee, they are just so whimsical... love them!!
