Finally Going To Do It..

I have been wanting to get business cards printed up but never got around to designing one. I finally sat down tonight and worked it all up. I'm pretty happy with it.. what do you think?

What was I thinking??

Okay, so I decided not to be tugged along by WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING OR THINKS I SHOULD BE DOING. I am being consumed by Facebook and Twitter and Ning and blah blah blah. I'm finding I have less and less time to create and am spending more and more time devoted to online groups, applications, etc. So I will keep my Facebook page up but don't expect me to take 500 surveys, don't expect me to accept any of the bazillion requests I get every week either. You can expect me to add more pics soon and update occationally.

I will also keep my Twitter acct but again, I'll update it it when I feel I have something important to say, and not all day every day just because I "should".

I will keep my Ning site and will pull back from participation in other ning site activities and focus on my own instead.

Swap-bot will be stopped unless I have the time here and there. I'll finish the swaps I'm currently signed up for but won't be doing much after those.

I will however, keep posting here as I enjoy my blog and reading the blogs of others.

So, there you have it, I will no longer submit to peer pressure! I want to spend my days creating not seeing who got what in Facebook or whatever.

WIP Update

I changed direction a bit on the nesting doll and I'm glad I did. I'm liking this design much better. I don't know why I let these nesting dolls sit as long as I have. Okay, I do know why. I knew they were going to be a lot of work (and they are. I'm already 3.5 hours into this one doll) but I am having so much fun painting her!!! Here is a pic of what she looks like now. This is her base coat and now it's time for some depth, definition and and decoration.

I love this doll! Don't ya just love those days when you feel like you're firing on all cylinders? When everything seems to come together perfectly for you? It's rare but that's been my evening tonight!

Are You A Diva?

I'm not. I don't have time to be a diva. Okay, I have the "time" but not the drive. I want to be a Diva though. I really do. I want to shop and have a bazillion outfits and shoes to match but where would I wear any of it? I wear shorts and t-shirts every day, all year long and almost all of them have paint, glue, wood stain, clay, etc.. on them somewhere. So, I'm living out my Diva fantasy in this magnet:

You Are Strong

Through some really rough and rocky years there were days when I really didn't know how I would survive another day. I felt hopeless and beaten down and scared stiff of what tomorrow would bring. Somehow, I managed to survive it and pulled strength from somewhere I didn't even know I had.

No matter how bad it gets, no matter how hopeless you feel, you are WAY stronger than YOU think you are! You will get through it.

I can't wait!!

Fun Fun Fun

Over at my ning site I have started a few groups.

One is an ATC swappers Group where we will be swapping ATCs once a month.

An another group is the Original Art Swappers Group. In that group we will be swapping original works of art that measure 4 inches by 6 inches and we'll be swapping those once a month too.

Finally, I'm in the process of forming a group to participate in a traveling art journal. For that group I will mail out a journal and each member will be able to create one journal page and then mail it on to the next member. Once it's all finished, it will return to me where I will scan all of the pages and publish it through lulu.com for those whom would like to purchase a copy of their own and I will also make the scanned images available to all whom participated.

I'm Going to Scream!

I spent hours and hours designing my new site design and getting everything working just to find out today that our hosting service has removed all but one of our sites!!!!! So, I have nothing on my website at the moment and all of the videos I spent hours and hours uploading so my family back in Ohio could watch them are gone now too! I'm a little more than angry at this point! Not to mention that my email has been down all day as well!

My husband is on the case, he's not going to rest until it's all fixed and some refunds are given! I personally think they should have to pay me for the hours it's going to take me to upload everything again! They claim it was due to a server upgrade. UGHHHHHHHHHH!

Sorry, had to vent. If you go to my website (mlbstudios.com) and don't see anything, now you'll know why. I'll have it back up as soon as these people learn how to do their jobs.

A Gift For a Friend

A few years ago I joined a group called CDHM (Custom Dolls Houses & Miniatures). It was a time when my focus was on miniatures and I wanted to "meet" with like minded individuals.

One of the members was and still is Marsha Mees. She makes the most fabulous 1:12 scale miniature dolls. Anyway, from the start, Marsha was always very supportive of my work and I valued her friendship. When I changed direction and became less and less involved with CDHM, we lost touch- until recently.

I had received an email from a woman who was interested in my gypsy settings and was looking for a gypsy doll in 1:12 scale. I do make dolls (very rarely) in 1:12 scale but thought it would be better to pass on Marsha's info instead. I contacted Marsha and since then we have reconnected and started catching up.

Yesterday I received a comment from Marsha on my post where I showed you the little boxes I had painted. She said she liked them and to let her know if I ever made a black and pink one.

Well Marsha, I have made a Black and Pink one today, especially for you as a thank you for your constant support over the years. All I need is your address and I'll mail it out to you.

Picasso Art Lesson ATC Swap

I signed up for an ATC swap on Swap-bot that is the first in a series. I loved the idea! The first "lesson" was Picasso. Here is what the rules state: "...you will create an atc using the style or actual artwork of the artist. These can be collaged or handpainted works of art as long as it is your interpretation of the artists style. Its really a lot of fun and you learn alot about the artist thru research of their works and personalities." So, I went in search of some Picasso inspiration and found a painting titled "At Rest". I decided to try to paint it myself. Obviously I'm no Picasso, but I thought it turned out well. Anyway, here is my copycat of Picasso's "At Rest"...

3 Years Ago Today....

I married the man of my dreams. 3 years ago today I stood on a beach, stared into his eyes and with a heart full of love and joy, said "I DO". 3 years ago today my life changed for the better in every way.

Today is our wedding anniversary and I love this man more now than ever! Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!

Hello everyone! I hope your weekend was wonderful and your 4th of July was fabulous! Ours sure were! We really enjoyed my mom's visit and had a ton of fun while she was here. We only wish she could have stayed longer! (NOTE TO MOM: Start saving those vacation days so you can stay longer next time!) Anyway, it was a great holiday and now I'm back in the swing of things. I started a few paintings for my livingroom but haven't finished them yet... I'll share some pics when they're done. I also changed the look of the blog for the 100th time... (Am I driving you nuts with the constant theme changes??) and I decorated my daughters' room with all of the goodies that my mom bought them while she was here. I'll try to snap a few pictures of everything tomorrow so you can see what I've been up to. In the meantime.......
