OMG, I feel like such a twit~!

Okay so for quite awhile my comments thingy was broken, or so I thought, and I wasn't getting any comments. I had several people email me instead and they told me that they tried to leave a comment but it never showed up. So, out of aggravation, I changed the blog template to a standard Blogger one to try to fix the problem. It worked and now the comments are coming through just fine. BUT......... I just noticed on my "dashboard" page (which i never check except maybe once every other month) that I had 47 comments to moderate!!!

Apparently, the old blog template screwed up and sent comments to moderation but I was never notified of them and didn't know they existed! I feel so bad! I don't even want to think about the number of you who thought I was just ignoring you!! I am soooooo sorry! It would take me forever to answer each of those comments now but I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you who left comments and didn't get a response! I didn't know they were there!! UGH!!

Okay, okay...getting a grip... Just know that the problem is now solved and I do get your comments now. I'm sorry if you thought I was ignoring you, I would never do that!

Monster Almost Done.. Still needs fur

I still need to paint the stuffed animals but here in this pic I was playing with some fur, trying it on him so to speak. I'll post another pic once I get the stuffed animals painted.. Back to it!

Monster Under the Bed Doll.. More Progress..

I can't tell you how much fun making this doll has been! You know you're having a blast when hours feel like minutes! Here's my little monster today..

I have finished all of the sculpting on this doll and now I get to start painting and adding fur! I'm really liking how he's turning out and my hubby has said more than once that he wishes I wasn't giving him away. He instructed me to tell Kim that if she doesn't like him to return him and he'll pay the shipping.

lol!

Oh, and those are stuffed animals in the monster's hands, not actual animals. That will be obvious once it's painted and finished, promise! Just didn't want anyone getting upset.. hee hee..

On My Work Table Tonight.. Kim Don't Read this!

As you know from an earlier post, I signed up to participate in an Art Doll Swap. The theme is Monster Under the Bed. My partner, Kim, doesn't like scary dolls so I told her I'd try to make a doll on the scary/cute side. I have been itching to sculpt another doll and what a fun theme to work with! This is where I'm at with it at the moment..

I'm going to save the story behind him for when I have him finished but this is what I thought was under my bed when I was a kid!

Now I have to sculpt his hands and the things he'll be holding in his hands. I also have to add a big ol' pot belly too. Once those are done, I can paint and fur him. When he's all finished I'll post the finished doll pics and tell you the story behind him.

I am having the best time making this doll! It's been sooooooo long! Too long!

Serious Sales Skills

I made these funky little funny face pins for my daughters to sell to their friends.

Today, my oldest daughter came home very excited because she sold one to her friend Kayla! You see, the girls get a 25% commission on each pin that they sell. You can just see the dollar signs flashing in their heads as they count how many pins I make and figure out what their take will be on the sales! My youngest daughter has a Claire's Boutique addiction and can't wait to sell some pins so she can buy some treasures at her favorite store.

If you'd like to purchase one of these silly little feel good pins, just drop me a note and I'll hook you up. They are made of polymer clay and have been sealed with a gloss varnish. Each one is initialed on the back and are available at rock bottom pricing! $4.00 each. The girls receive $1.00 for each pin that sells.

I just love finding ways to get them excited to earn money! I think it's so important that kids learn the value of a dollar earned. Otherwise, they take so much for granted. I love how their eyes light up when they hold that dollar in their hand after WORKING for it. Makes me so very proud and more importantly, it makes them proud of themselves.

Mailbox Goodness

I received 2 awesome ATCs in my mailbox today! I had signed up for an ATC swap over at http://willowing.ning.com/ where we swapped 2 ATCs. One was to be in the mother/baby/birth theme and the other was up to us. My partner was Heather Gailey in Canada and these are the cards she sent..

I absolutely love them both but I think the mother and child one is my favorite! I have happily added these cards to my growing ATC collection. Thanks Heather!

I have been making tiny Skelly dolls for years and thought it might be fun to make a skelly doll that you could wear! So... Here he is!

This tiny skelly measures 2.75 inches tall and 1.2 inches wide. He is jointed with wire and hand painted in acrylics. He has a pin back so that you can wear him!! How cool is that, right?

He was hand-sculpted in polymer clay without the use of any molds. He is initialed and dated on the back and now available in the SHOP..

Halloween Skull Brooch

Sculpted in polymer clay and painted in acrylic washes. I sealed it in gloss varnish and added a pin back to make it a brooch. Signed and dated and measures 1.5" by 1.5" and is now available in the SHOP..

Halloween Brooch.....

Hello my favorite people! I was sitting here in my studio and started playing around with some polymer clay. No direction in mind, just playing while I watched T.V.

I made a few little goofy faces with offset eyes and silly expressions and then all of a sudden, I got this urge to do a gothic girl pin/brooch. So, I grabbed my clay tools and sculpted one up.

Here she is, "Emma", the Halloween Gothic Girl Brooch.






Emma measures 1.6 inches tall by 1.5 inches wide and is now available in the ETSY SHOP.

I received a package in the mail today from Kristen Cameron. It was the paperdoll she made me for the September Paper doll swap over on the Ning Site. OMG! She did an amazing job! Anyone who has been reading this blog for awhile knows that I really enjoy going to a certain auction house in Tampa, FL. I was a newbie to auctions until about a year or so ago and I always thought auctions were where really expensive art and collectibles were sold for insane money, so why would I even waste my time going? Well, my hubby talked me into going to this auction house with him once and I was in shock and instantly hooked! Whole pallets of stuff were selling for $5.00 and things that I knew were hundreds of dollars retail were selling for $20-35. My mouth just fell open and stayed that way all that first day.

Now I'm a veteren auction participant! We have bought so much stuff there! I would have to say about 60% of what is in my studio at the moment is from auctions! Two art and crafts stores were liquidated and a florist (ribbon) in the past year and a half and I came home with a car full each time.

There is nothing like the high of buying about 60 tubes of artist watercolors new (marked $7.95 and up per tube) for 15 dollars! There were tons of beads that are perfect for mini making and paint, tons of paint, acrylics and watercolors, doll armatures and doll eyes, my goodness I'm getting excited all over again! lol

We didn't come home with everything we bid on, but I'm thrilled with what we did get. Some of it will be auctioned off on eBay because they're mulitples of things that I'll never be able to use in a lifetime.

I encourage all of you to investigate your area and see if you have an auction house near you which specializes in liquidation of police, school and store merchandise. It's a treasure hunt like no other!
