Something Sweet For Halloween

Remember how I told you that I was going to make a doll inspired by this sweet little vintage Halloween postcard?  Well, I did it.  She's finally finished and I absolutely love her sweet little self.  To remind you, this is the post card I drew inspiration from:

Of course, making a doll to look exactly like the postcard would be boring so I created my own interpretation.  Mine has the same feel as the one in the postcard but is my own design.

I so love this little doll!  She's available in my Etsy Shop:  MLB Studios

Creative Juices Are Flowing and I'm Taking Full Advantage of It

I've been in serious create mode lately.  I'm actually working on 4 projects at once at the moment.  A few of them had been sitting around my studio for more than a year and the others are new ideas.  I love it when the creativity gods are smiling upon me and I get this fever to create.

I thought I'd show you 3 of the 4 creations I'm working on.  I'd show you all 4 but I don't have pictures of one of them and well, I'm too lazy to take any right now.  Hee hee.

Anyway...

The first project I'm working on is the doll inspired by this Vintage Halloween postcard:

She's getting there, slowly but surely.  I'm falling in love with her more and more after each new thing I add to her.  Here's where she's at right now...

Tomorrow I'll be giving her some sleeves and hair.

Next up is a project I started more than a year ago.  The Steampunk Gentleman bust... His head has been laying around way too long and was screaming at me for some attention.  I added his neck and chest plate, as well as the stand.  Then I gave him some hair.  I'm really excited about this piece.

The third WIP is for a swap.  I haven't participated in many swaps this year and I still don't know what possessed me to sign up for this one but I did, so....

The theme is Scarecrows or Pumpkins.  So, I'm making a Pumpkinhead Doll and adding a scarecrow ornament (store bought) in with her.  She's just a blank body and a head at the moment but I'm liking her so far....  I'm not so sure about the body but I wanted to do a primitive style doll but with a sculpted head.  I'm hoping I like it better once everything is painted and she's dressed...  Anyway, here's where she is right now...

The 4th project is for the ADA Halloween Ornament Swap.  I did the sculpting last night and let it dry. Tomorrow I'll add paint and hair.  I'll show that one when it's finished.  For now, I'm pooped and desperately need to lay this tired body down.

What are you working on?

Step Right Up! Introducing the Beautiful Bearded Lady!

SHE IS FINALLY D O N E!!!!!!  I have to say this was the most frustrating doll I have worked on to date BUT, she is also my new favorite.  We've spent many hours together, this doll and I.  There's been moments of joy and moments of cursing and throwing of things.  :0)  In the end it was all worth it.  I am in love with her and it is going to be really hard for me to list her for sale.  Alas, I must making a living so I will do it, but I will not be happy to see her go.

I introduce, A FINISHED, Bearded Lady.....

Next in line, a doll inspired by a Vintage Halloween Postcard.  Stay tuned!

A Bearded Lady Gets A Top Hat

Moving along.... slowly but surely.

Today the bearded lady got a top hat!  Hopefully tonight she'll get her boots and finally be finished!  This will be my third attempt at making her boots.  I think I can.... I think I can....
